On Monday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), received a directive from Emeka Beke, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter that was dissolved in Rivers State, to permit Governor Sim Fubara to carry out his official responsibilities.
Beke bemoaned the fact that the state’s continuous crisis is causing investors to flee the state on a daily basis.
Beke warned Wike not to destroy the APC the way he destroyed the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, during his appearance on the Arise TV Morning Show.
Beke stated: “Fubara should be given the freedom to fulfill the mandate that the people of Rivers State have given him as governor. Fubara has been elected.”
The state legislators who declared they had joined the party have a procedure in place; you begin at your unit if you wish to join a party. Do people not adhere to procedures because we live in anarchy?
“They should quit misleading people and stop doing governance if that is what they don’t want to do. You visit your unit, ward, and state first. It is not enough to simply declare your departure from the PDP and join the APC.
“Sim Fubara is the governor of Rivers State; let him hold office and promote peace.” In Wike’s final eight years in office, the state saw far too many crises. In eight years, is this what we’re going to return to?
Since Fubara is the governor, they ought to let him do his job. Investors are fleeing the state on a daily basis due to various crises; the issue is not one of party but rather governance.
“He needs to focus on his task in Abuja and give Rivers some peace; he’s already destroyed the PDP; now he wants to destroy the APC?”
