President Bola Tinubu was praised on Thursday by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) for removing universities and other tertiary institutions from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
Pedro Obi, the president of NANS, praised Tinubu for the action in a statement issued on Thursday.
His statement that Tinubu “understands the challenges faced by these institutions” is evidence of his decision to modify the IPPIS policy and exempt tertiary institutions.
“President Tinubu’s commitment to guaranteeing the independence and efficient management of higher education institutions throughout the nation is demonstrated by the removal of universities and other tertiary institutions from the IPPIS.
The statement went on, “This action is in line with Nigerian students’ aspirations to have a strong and effective education system that satisfies international standards.”
