The Enugu State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, or FRSC, has reported that from January 1 to November 30, 2023, fewer traffic accidents occurred in the state.
This was announced on Thursday by the state sector commander, Adeyemi Sokunbi. He said that the corps recorded fewer people engaged in crashes between January and November of 2023—763—than during the same period in 2022—1,576.
He further mentioned that compared to 314 in 2022, there were 174 fewer automobiles engaged in traffic accidents in 2023.
According to Sokunbi, there were 108 road traffic crashes (RTCs) in 2023 compared to 186 in 2022, and 35 fatalities in 2023 compared to 49 in 2022.
In contrast to 646 during the same period in 2022, he claims that between January 1 and November 30, 2023, there were just 438 total fatalities.
The significant decline in collisions, he continued, was the result of the FRSC’s persistent and robust involvement with transportation stakeholders and the general driving public.
He said, “We are grateful to the FRSC South-East Zonal Commander, Assistant Corps Marshal, Isaac Ameh, and Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, for their leadership and logistical support in making the robust stakeholders’ engagement possible.”
