Ondo State’s acting governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, claimed that the impeachment process against him, which has slowed down the political process over the past two months, was avoidable and needless.
In a broadcast speech to the people of Ondo on Thursday morning, which Premium Politics was watching, Aiyedatiwa made this claim.
Thanking the people of Ondo for sticking with the truth, the acting governor stated that the administration had made up the lost ground over the past two months.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who recently left for another medical leave in Germany, was prayed for to recover quickly by Aiyedatiwa during the program.
During his treatment in the European nation on April 3, 2023, and July 10, 2023, Akeredolu—who was reportedly afflicted with cancer—turned over control of his affairs to Aiyedatiwa in an acting capacity.
On September 7, he came back to the nation and informed the state House of Assembly that he would be taking up his duties as governor while residing at his Ibadan mansion.
Following his return, Akeredolu made news when, according to a source, he fired all of the media assistants working for the deputy governor’s office due to charges of flagrant disdain for the proper authority and insubordination.
But the impeachment process against Aiyedatiwa, which was stopped in November thanks to President Bola Tinubu’s intervention—despite the parties’ refusal to drop their legal cases—only made the political crisis in the state worse.
