Salomon Kalou, a former forward for Cote d’Ivoire, thinks the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be difficult for the Elephants to defeat at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are drawn with the host country in Group A.
On January 18, the two titans of African football will square off at the Alhassan Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan.
The other two teams in Group A are Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea.
Kalou suggested that the Super Eagles will be a challenging team and called them a dangerous opponent.
“To start with, Nigeria is a very dangerous side, and the group is made up of very good teams.” The Super Eagles exhibit tremendous promise at every AFCON, Kalou told CAFonline.
Equatorial Guinea performed well in the previous edition, and Guinea Bissau might have surprised everyone.
“To start the competition well, we must respect all the teams and, most importantly, win the opening match, as that is where it all begins.”
The 34th AFCON finals will take place in Cote d’Ivoire from January 13–February 11, 2024.
