The decision of Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, the state governor, to take a medical vacation was the subject of a letter that the Ondo State House of Assembly announced on Wednesday.
On a medical vacation, Akeredolu is anticipated to travel to Germany today.
The deputy governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would take over as acting governor, as per the governor’s letter, which was presented to the Assembly.
Mr. Olamide Oladiji, the speaker, signed a statement released by the Assembly that included this information.
The letter said, “Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, has forwarded the letter on medical leave to the State House of Assembly, in accordance with the doctor’s advice regarding the need for medical follow-up after recovering.
The Governor’s action is in accordance with Section 190 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution (as amended), according to the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, who received the letter on behalf of other legislators.
The letter stated that until a formal declaration to the contrary, his deputy, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would now take on the duties of the Governor in an acting capacity.
“We anticipate that the leave will start on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
“Oladiji expressed optimism that the governor would soon resume his duty and thanked God for the governor’s quick recovery.”
