Victor Osimhen of the Super Eagles of Nigeria has been congratulated by President Bola Tinubu on winning the CAF 2023 Men’s Player of the Year title.
In addition, Tinubu recognized the outstanding accomplishments of Chiamaka Nnadozie, who won Woman Goalkeeper of the Year, and Asisat Oshoala of the Nigerian Super Falcons, who won the Women’s National Team of the Year award for the sixth time in 2023 CAF Women’s Player of the Year.
This praise was found in a statement dated Tuesday and signed by Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity.
He described the players as sources of national pride and an inspiration for aspiring football players across the continent, and he praised them for their exceptional performances on both the national and international stages.
The great ambassadors of Nigeria said, “We are even more convinced that, with God’s assistance, hard work, and perseverance, we possess all that this country needs to become great. This belief was reinforced watching the men and women winners of the African Footballers of the Year, standing atop the podium on Monday night in Marrakesh, Morocco.
“I applaud Victor and Asisat for remembering their humble beginnings in the game they adore and for recognizing the influence of native coaches on their professional development.
“I pray, along with all Nigerian football fans, that this honor is just the start of a journey full of success, victories, and realizing all of your footballing dreams.”
