91,843 corporations are scheduled to be delisted by the Corporate Affairs Commission for neglecting to submit their yearly filings.
The Commission has nominated 91,843 entities for delisting in a list that was just posted on its website.
Consequently, the number is 2,738, which is lower than the 94,581 that was first released in August.
Even again, this is still less than the first 100,000 businesses that CAC had previously declared it would eliminate.
Former CAC CEO and Registrar-General Garba Abubakar revealed in July that the Commission would remove 100,000 registered businesses from its database if they neglected to submit an annual report.
“The CAC is stepping up its enforcement of banning 100,000 companies from its register for not filing an annual return,” he stated.
At that time, Abubakar said that the Commission will notify the impacted enterprises of their impending strike before taking the measures specified in section 692 of the CAMA, 2020.
The Commission hereby notifies the public that the list of companies that have failed to file current annual returns in accordance with the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 is now prepared for publication in accordance with Section 692 of the Act. This notice follows its earlier notice of the start of striking off the names of companies from the Register of Companies, which was published on August 2, 2023.
It is recommended that companies that submitted their entire annual reports in response to the previous publication verify their removal from the list of companies that will be struck off. The Commission said on its website that the new list is ready for publishing.
