Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has responded to the passing of well-known Yoruba activist Lanrewaju Adepoju, also known as Olanrewaju Adepoju.
The activist who was also a poet, author and writer died on sunday.
Makinde called the late Adepoju one of Oyo’s deserving ambassadors in the entertainment business in a sympathy statement that was made accessible to the media on Monday.
The Governor stated that the dead, while he was living, used his artistic abilities to combat societal vices across the nation through poetry, songs, and music.
My sincere sympathies go out to the family of Pa Olanrewaju Adepoju, the well-known social activist who employed music and poetry to address societal injustices.
Baba Olanrewaju Adepoju was a fantastic representative of the Pacesetter State, flying the state’s flag as a social activist and leaving a lasting impression on the community.
“I pray that God gives him peace and comfort and keeps his family safe.”
Ibadan native Olanrewaju Adepoju passed away at the age of 81 in his house.
