The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) claims that through air attacks, the Air Component of Operation Delta Safe shut down many illicit processing facilities and stopped oil theft in Rivers.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), made this announcement in an Abuja statement on Wednesday.
According to Gabkwet, airstrikes targeting South-South oil thieves and economic saboteurs had gone off without incident.
He said that on Tuesday, two Cotonou boats were seen in the Rivers at Arugbana near Okrika and Yellow Island near Bonny Island, where a busy Illegal Refining Site (IRS) with equipment and reservoirs filled with contraband was seen.
At the site, an operational IRS was seen hidden with reservoirs and a storage tank that may have been filled with illicitly processed goods.
“In any case, Operation Delta Safe’s Air Component will keep performing its assigned tasks until these saboteurs’ activities are either completely stopped or drastically curtailed,” he said.
