The verification and biometric capture of all local government employees in the state has been ordered by His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the governor of Enugu State.
The directive was included in a statement on Thursday that the State Government’s secretary, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, signed.
According to Onyia, the verification committee would be officially launched at the Government House in Enugu on Friday, December 1, 2023.
On Friday, December 1, 2023, the verification exercise will start. It will go until the end of February 2024, during which time the verification committee will randomly visit any one of the state’s 17 local governments on a working day.
Employees must report for duty with their appointment letters and duty schedule in hand in order to undergo biometric screening and verification. The government will fire those who were absent and those who were found to have violated their job contract.
Additionally, he said, “by virtue of this announcement, all local governments are hereby directed to submit their lists of attendance for the previous week on Wednesdays to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government via the email address: email@example.com.”
