For the 2024 fiscal year, the Delta Government has allocated N150 billion for the works sector.
This was said by State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in Asaba on Wednesday during his presentation of the 2024 budget to the State House of Assembly.
He claims that the Ministry of Works had N150 billion set up for large-scale projects for the 2019 budget year.
Declaring that infrastructure development is a critical component of both social and economic development, Oborevwor said that his administration will prioritize this area.
In addition, he said, “We will make investments in vital industries like energy, telecommunications, water, and transportation, with an emphasis on enhancing the sustainability and resilience of our infrastructure and increasing access to underprivileged areas.”
Oborevwori commended Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor, for his noteworthy contributions to the state’s infrastructure development, pointing out that the improved connectivity and higher standard of living among people were the clear outcomes.
Though he admitted that much work remained, he assured that his government was committed to building on previous victories and taking the State to new heights.
Additionally, Oborevwori stated that N46.6 billion had been allocated in the 2024 budget for the education sector.
He said that his government was committed to making sure that every person had access to high-quality education and that education was an essential part of progress.
