Plans to dispatch people to Jigawa State border areas in order to combat criminal activities have been finalized by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
In a statement released by the NSCDC Spokesperson in Jigawa, DSC Adamu Shehu, the Commandant, Muhammad Danjuma, revealed this information during a courtesy visit from retired AVM Haruna Umar, the National Center for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons’ North-West Zonal Coordinator.
The NSCDC Commandant expressed gratitude to the team leader and representatives from the Center for their visit and promised to do everything in his power to ensure that the battle against the spread of small arms and light weapons throughout the nation is successful.
Additionally, he expressed his intention to send troops to patrol the borders in order to stop the smuggling of weapons that could endanger the relative tranquility in the state and the country.
Umar had earlier stated that the visit’s goal was to ask for the Corps’ continued support and cooperation in the Center’s initiatives to eliminate the threat of small- and light-waving proliferation from the nation.
Additionally, he commended the NSCDC for being a crucial ally in national security.
