Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has applauded the Court of Appeal ruling upholding his election.
Malam Abubakar Bawa, Aliyu’s press secretary, released a statement in which the governor praised the ruling as evidence of Nigeria’s unbiased legal system. Aliyu attributed the victory to the will of Almighty Allah.
“We see this victory as a gift from God, and we applaud the legal system for maintaining justice and the truth,” Aliyu stated.
In order to secure the advancement of the state, he pleaded with the opposition to work with him.
The people was reassured by the governor that his government was committed to bringing about democratic dividends. Our commitment to creating an atmosphere that supports growth in our state hasn’t wavered.
Aliyu said, pleading for cooperation from all parties involved, “Our commitment includes ongoing efforts to eliminate bandits and criminals through sustained military operations.”
In order to achieve the state’s development, Aliyu emphasized the necessity for unity and called on the people to continue supporting his efforts.
He thanked the populace for their prayers and support, recognizing their part in the state’s achievements and urging further prayers, recommendations, and helpful critiques of the state’s advancement.
According to reports, Aliyu’s win in the 2023 polls was confirmed on Monday when the Abuja appeal court supported the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal’s decision.
Dissatisfied with the ruling of the gubernatorial election petition tribunal, the state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) filed an appeal with the appellate court to challenge Aliyu and Deputy Alhaji Idris Gobir’s win in the 2023 election.
