Following a single incident involving a police car transporting officers performing investigative responsibilities, a police inspector affiliated with the Kebbi State Command passed away.
The Toyota Land Cruiser flipped three times into a roadside shrub, according to a statement released by police spokeswoman Nafi’u Abubakar on Sunday. The crash happened along Koko-Jega Road as a result of a punctured tire.
The back tire failed at the NNPC facility in Koko, according to Abubakar, who was traveling with eleven officers—including a senior superintendent—for a crime scene visit in Koko/Besse Local Government under ACP Suleiman Sade.
“On November 25, 2023, at around 1000 hours, a police Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number 5465D was involved in a single, fatal motor vehicle collision on Koko/Jega road.
“On their way to visit a crime scene at Kendawa village, Dutsinmari District of Koko/Besse Local Government Area, the vehicle was conveying a team of policemen led by AC CID, Kebbi Police Command, ACP Suleiman Sade, and nine others.”
The photographer described how the car burst one of its rear tires as it approached the NNPC location at Koko, causing it to tumble three times into the surrounding woods.
After all of the occupants were taken to a hospital in Koko, a doctor pronounced Inspector Sa’idu Idiya dead. Later, his remains were taken to Birnin Kebbi’s FMC for additional treatment together with those of other injured police officers.
A group of police officers from Koko Division arrived at the scene of the accident almost away, treating the injured and transporting them to General Hospital Koko, where a medical professional confirmed the death of one of the SCID’s inspectors, Sa’idu Idiya.
The Islamic customs of burial were followed for the deceased officer. The spokesperson for the police prayed for Idiya’s soul to rest in peace for all eternity.
