Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, warned on Friday that if the PDP and Labour Party do not act to save themselves, they would soon face collapse.
Primate Ayodele declared that if the opposition does not integrate, they will vanish within the next three years and compared their current situation to that of a coma.
According to him, a merger is the only thing that may save the parties from certain death; without it, both would keep fading in the nation’s political landscape.
Ayodele stated in a statement issued through his spokesperson, Oluwatosin Osho, that the PDP and Labour Party are already “in a coma” and that, should they not join, they will be “buried” in three years. They are being troubled by forces they are blind to. Before they fight it politically, they must battle it spiritually.
The only thing that can prevent the two main opposition parties—the Labour Party and the PDP—from disappearing before the next election is a merger. Ten million Atikus won’t be able to accomplish it if they don’t set their self-serving goals aside, and Obasanjo would only keep screaming till he is summoned home.
Primate Ayodele specifically mentioned the PDP, pointing out that active members will leave for the governing party and that Abubakar Atiku, the party’s presidential candidate, will be deceived, causing the party to become forgotten. He said that there are three political groups inside the party, each battling for their own self-interest.
If PDP doesn’t take precautions, they’ll end up becoming a forgotten party. If precautions aren’t followed, this administration will make the party impotent. Most of the people in the party right now are just trying to survive. In this administration, Atiku will deal with more betrayals than before, yet many will still oppose him. The PDP has split into three groups that are already battling for their own self-interests; the governors will be duped. There are still some PDP members who plan to decamp.
Ayodele’s statement coincides with PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s proposal for an alliance between the opposition and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in front of 2027.
According to Atiku, the APC was leading Nigeria toward chaos and a one-party system, which is why the opposition needed to unite.
