The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was declared the winner of the Delta State elections on March 18 by the Court of Appeal, Lagos, which rendered a unanimous decision on Friday.
The appeal filed by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the All Progressive Congress’ (APC) nominee for governor of Delta State, was denied by the appellate court.
The appeal was deemed to have no merit by the court.
Remember that Oborevwori was declared the winner of the March 18 governorship election by the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which met in Asaba on September 29.
Omo-Agege, on the other hand, appealed the electoral petition tribunal’s ruling to the higher court.

Omo-Agege, on the other hand, appealed the electoral petition tribunal’s ruling to the higher court.
In his appeal, Omo-Agege—the Senate’s most recent Deputy President—prayed to be named the poll’s victor.
Nonetheless, Oborevwori pleaded with the court to reject the appeal, arguing that it was without merit.
The Court of case rejected Omo-Agege’s case as being without substance in its ruling on Friday, upholding Oborevwori’s election.
Additionally, the lower tribunal’s decision was maintained by the appellate court.
In a different ruling, the tribunal denied the appeal filed by Kenneth Gbaji of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) against the governorship candidates of the PDP, APC, and Labour Party (LP).
In a related ruling, the appellate court denied the Labour Party, LP’s and its governorship candidate, Ken Pela,’s petition contesting the decision of the lower tribunal, which had upheld Oborevwori’s election.
