Two individuals, Azees Agbaye (33) and Alaba Oke (45), have been charged by the Ekiti State Police Commander for allegedly stealing 94 liters of diesel oil worth N232,000. The charges were brought before an Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court in the Ado Ekiti District.
The defendants committed the alleged offense on November 15, at approximately 10:10 a.m., at a telecom mast, EK10053C Olat area Adebayo in Ado Ekiti, according to police prosecutor Celeb Leramo, who testified in court on Thursday.
“The defendants did conspire together to commit felony to wit, stealing,” according to Leramo.
According to him, the defendants stole diesel from one Pyramid Risk Management Consult’s premises.
The prosecutor stated that the accused also stole cable wire valued at N45,000, from the same company.
He declared, “The defendants did plan to steal as a felony together.”
“Did steal 94 liters of diesel oil worth N232,000 that belonged to Pyramid Risk Management Consult on the same day, at the same time, and in the same location.
“On November 11, at about 2.30a.m in the same place, did steal cable wire valued at N45,000, from the same company.
“The criminal law vol. 1, law of the Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021, prohibits and punishes the offense committed under sections 421, 295, and 302 (1)(A).”
A. V. Ogunjobi, the defendants’ attorney, begged the judge to set bail for his clients, pledging to produce reliable sureties and guaranteeing they wouldn’t breach it.
The case was postponed to December 4th for additional hearing by Chief Magistrate Saka Afunso, who gave the accused bail of N25,000 apiece with one surety.
