In order to determine the degree of budget implementation for 2023, the Committee on Finance and Appropriation of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has announced that it would begin interacting with all of the state’s Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
In a Thursday briefing to assembly correspondents, committee chairman Dr. Itoro Etim stated that the committee would be able to review the governor’s Tuesday budgetary predictions for 2024 since they would be aware of how the 2023 budget was handled.
The member further promised smooth approval procedures and a close examination of the budget to expedite the state’s growth in accordance with the government’s Arise Agenda.
Nonetheless, she asked for the help and collaboration of MDA heads during the budget defense exercise and the legislators’ monitoring visits to project locations.
“We want to know how the last budget performed and how it was carried out. We will, of course, present our report to the House. After that, the budget will be passed and sent to the Executive for approval.”
Additionally, Elder Emmanuel Ebong, the Press Secretary to the Speaker and spokesperson for the Assembly Press Corps, guaranteed that the legislative reporters would be prepared to provide the media with thorough coverage of the legislators’ actions throughout the budget defense sessions.
In an effort to improve the legislators’ perceived goodwill, he promoted regular media interaction.
