After a fire destroyed the major market at Oja-Tuntun in the state capital of Ilorin, Kwara State firefighters were able to preserve commodities worth N25 billion.
As of the time of writing, the cause of the fire is still unknown, however there are signs that it happened on Wednesday at around 21:18 hours.
Fire Service Spokesman Hassan Adekunle stated, “The fire crew found numerous shops ablaze upon arrival and worked swiftly to control and extinguish the fire.”
“Brigade Headquarters and Folawiyo Road Fire Station, two distinct fire appliances, worked together to effectively address the situation.”
Only 15 stores were impacted by the fire, according to him, out of the Oja-Tuntun market’s 1072 businesses, 984 stands, and 27 warehouses.
“Commodities and property valued at over N25 billion were saved because to the fire service’s quick and effective response. While the inquiry is still ongoing, the cause of the fire cannot yet be confirmed.
In addition to expressing condolences for those impacted, Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, who was on the site, praised the state fire service’s outstanding efforts in handling the emergency.
