The National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), according to the Center for Peace, Transparency, and Accountability (CPTA), allocates a greater portion of its capital budget to building and other intervention projects.
Patrick Ogheneyero, the CPTA’s executive director, made this revelation on Thursday in Abuja, disputing the NLTF’s claim that cash had been misappropriated.
The NLTF was accused by the House of Representatives Committee on Finance of not providing adequate justification for the use of its own funds in 2022, and of spending the funds without budgetary permission.
Dismissing the accusation, CPTA stated that not a single piece of evidence could demonstrate that the NLTF had misappropriated funds in the course of carrying out its legally mandated duties.
The CPTA asserts that the NLTF’s operations are compliant with the Act’s requirements, which created the organization as an oversight and revenue-generating entity for Nigeria’s gaming sector.
