Comrade Uchenna Madu, the leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, or MASSOB, has refuted claims that he, the Labour Party, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate, and Rochas Okorocha, the former governor of Imo State, betrayed the late Odumegwu Ojukwu.
This was disclosed by the organization in a statement that was signed and provided to reporters in Abakaliki on Thursday by Comrade Edeson Samuel, the National Director of Information.
However, Ralph Uwazuruike, a former group leader, received a warning from MASSOB to avoid exploiting the late Ojukwu’s name to curry favor with politicians.
According to the statement, “We disassociate our Movement from the sponsored news publication made by one Chris Mocha, the spokesperson of the Biafra Independent Movement, led by Ralph Uwazuruike, BIM,” which claimed that Peter Obi and Rochas Okorocha were betrayed by MASSOB on behalf of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
“BIM lacks the authority to label any Igbo man as a traitor, as Uwazuruike is the one who truly betrayed everything that the late Ojukwu stood for in his pursuit of Igbo liberation from Nigeria’s dominance.”
“MASSOB still has the documentation showing how Uwazuruike betrayed the people of Biafra when he met at his Owerri home to stop further regional agitations for self-determination with Al Mustapha, Fredrick Faseun, Asari Dokubo, Alhaji Yerima Sani, Alhaji Ibrahim Abacha, etc.”
In a similar spirit, the statement asked the Labour Party to confirm any claims made about MASSOB before disparaging the pro-Biafra organization.
According to the statement, “MASSOB has never spoken evil of the Labour Party or their presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, unless the Labour Party is waging political war on us, in which case we will resist them.”
