Due to the violence in Sudan, the Jigawa State Government has allocated $65,000 for the sponsorship of ten students to be transferred from the International University of Africa in Khartoum, Sudan, to Integral University in India.
Alhaji Sagir Musa, the state commissioner for information, youths, sports, and culture, made this announcement on Thursday in the state capital of Dutse.
According to Musa, the funds would pay for the students’ international support services, housing, application costs, and tuition.
He claimed that the consent was granted during the Wednesday meeting of the State Executive Council.
The Ministry of Higher Education submitted a memo to the Council that details the payment of $65, 650 in tuition, housing, application fees, and services for foreign students for 10 Jigawa transferred students from Sudan’s International University of Africa, Khartoum to Integral University, India. The memo was approved.
“In the same way, the council has approved the payment of N53,562, 295.80 only for the payment of living allowances, air tickets, visas, and other logistics for the students’ travel arrangements,” Musa stated.
The governor’s committees on the state’s COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus, the Drug Revolving Fund, and the Higher Education Committees of Inquiries into the Activities of the Colleges of Education and Islamic Studies Ringim, Gumel, and Jigawa Polytechnic, Dutse, respectively, likewise submitted progress reports to the council, he continued.
Following the presentations, the commissioner said, the council convened and decided unanimously to form a committee tasked with producing white papers on each of the findings.
