Despite winning the legal battle in 2022, Kanu has been under the Department of State Services’ custody since June 2021.
On October 13, 2022, the Court of Appeal in Abuja dismissed the allegations of terrorism against him.
The IPOB leader’s forced return from Kenya to Nigeria in June 2021 was found to be a violation of the extradition statute of the nation by the tribunal headed by Jummai Hanatu.
In the meantime, the Supreme Court has scheduled its decision on the appeal to force the Federal Government to free Kanu from custody for December 15.
