According to Dr. Abdulkarim Obaje, National Coordinator of the Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Program, the federal government will support states in their efforts to fight poverty, address deficiencies in basic infrastructure, guarantee food security, and support small and nano businesses.
Obaje made this announcement on Wednesday in Jalingo while paying Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas a courtesy call.
According to Obaje, “NG-CARES will expand access to livelihood support and food security services and grants for vulnerable households and firms in the country if the states and the Federal Capital Territory fully support its implementation.”
“The FCT and states get reimbursement for funding developments under the terms of the Performance for Results (PforR) program, NG-CARES, in accordance with established norms.
“The reimbursement is determined by earned results, which yield a value that is significantly greater than the sub-national’s investment.”
Since the program’s start, Taraba has only gotten $3.98 million of the $20 million minimum distribution to each state, according to the national coordinator.
