At a high-level meeting with real estate developers in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike revealed this information. He also mentioned that the development will deal with the issue of “one chance” operators in the Federal Capital Territory.
The minister gave the FCT’s citizens assurances that the buses and taxis will be operational within the next month.
I promise that the “one chance” issue will be resolved as soon as the buses and cabs are operating.
But, you are responsible for your own actions if you choose to take a cab or bus that is not ours.
He declared, “The routes of Maitama, Asokoro, and other parts of the city will be serviced by the buses and taxis.”
He added that some of the commercial tricycle operators in Abuja were criminals’ agents and that the FCTA will drive them out in order to provide the highest level of security for the city’s people.
“I’m aware that some of you will remark, ‘Oh! We’re having trouble. I am aware of their struggles to obtain anything. I concur, but safeguarding our city is what matters to us.
“I won’t because you are starving to death and you let other people perish. He continued, “I have a duty to defend those who are conducting lawful business in our community.
The minister clarified that since there were no public buses or taxis available as alternatives, a firm decision was not made against the tricycle operators.
“We could not act without offering an alternative,” he declared. We are willing to take such step now that we have the option.
“They ought to relocate to the countryside.”
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the number of “one chance” incidents in the city is rising, and many citizens are becoming victims of crimes. Journalists and public servants are the worst affected.
Criminal organizations that operate in Abuja City under the pretense of commuters and commercial drivers frequently use “one chance” cars, especially late at night and during closing hours.
By dressing like professional cabs and robbing the customers of their goods, they entice their victims.
