For the purpose of building a 21-kilometer gully erosion control project in six communities inside the Gombe metropolis, the Gombe State Government and Triacta Nigeria Limited have signed a N12 billion contract.
Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State witnessed the contract signing ceremony between Triacta and the state government on Wednesday in Gombe.
Yahaya said that the project was among the biggest capital projects in the history of the state during the occasion.
He described the project as a vital step in the state’s recovery of agricultural and natural areas that have been severely damaged by environmental degradation and gully erosion.
The Northeastern subregion’s epicenter of erosion is thought to be Gombe State.
We have seen the catastrophic effects of gully erosion over the course of several decades, which have threatened agricultural fields, uprooted communities, and jeopardized the sustainability of our ecosystem.
“Our unwavering commitment to preserving and safeguarding the environment and livelihoods of the people is demonstrated by the signing of this contract for control of gully erosion which traverses through London-Maidorowa, Mallam-Inna Wuro-Ladde, Wuro-Kesa, Arawa, and Kagarawal,” the governor declared.
