Former Nigerian ambassador to South Africa and Deputy Governor of Niger State, Ahmed Musa Ibeto, along with two other prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have left the party to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Two more politicians that defected from the PDP to the APC were Alhaji Abubakar Azozo, the former commissioner of water resources for Niger State, and Ibrahim Egbo, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Lapai Agaie federal constituency.
Ibeto made his selection based on Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s deliberate leadership style. He and the other two presented themselves at the state APC secretariat in Minna.
“APC is my home, and I’ve made it back.” He revealed that a large number of individuals, including their supporters from other political parties, are en route to the APC.
Ibeto responded, “My decision was based on my personal conviction because all the problems that forced me out of APC before are no longer there in the current administration of Mohammed Umar Bago,” when asked if his choice was motivated by money or a political appointment.
Alh Aminu Musa Bobi, the APC’s state chairman, also revealed that the organization has begun building a database of all state political appointees in an effort to hold them accountable and make them reachable to the general public at large.
