Following Comrade Chukwuebuka Okoh’s appointment as the new Chairman, the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Enugu State chapter, is now at peace once again.
Up until then, the National Youth Group’s Enugu chapter had been plagued by crisis; however, after a peaceful new election process, all of the rival factions reconciled and joined together under one roof.
Sworn in yesterday, Monday, Okoh was the winner of the election that took place on Friday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu’s gymnasium hall.
All legal prerequisites were met, and with an amazing 153 votes, Comrade Uvie Moses Odege, the NYCN returning officer, pronounced Okoh the winner.
Speaking to the media, NYCN President Ambassador Sukobo Seraibe Sukubo expressed his happiness with the election’s peaceful outcome and reaffirmed his dedication to guiding the council in the young people of Nigeria’s best interests.
The recently elected state chairman, Comrade Henry Atigwe, expressed gratitude to God for the election’s outcome and said that the problems that had beset the Enugu State council had been resolved.
“I’m glad to be at this time right now. We are one, and I send my best wishes to Comrade Ebuka Okoh, my successor, and his executives,” Atigwe declared.
Barr Suleman Abutu, the National Secretary of the Council, swore in the newly elected leadership on Monday after they had complied with all legal criteria.
In his welcoming speech, the newly appointed Chairman, Okoh, conveyed his thanks for coming to prominence and acknowledged the dedication of the National President, Ambassador Sukubo, as well as the previous and current council leaders.
He promised to implement innovations throughout his administration to improve youth integration and development in the state of Enugu.
The following other elected officials are: Ossai Johnson Ifeanyichukwu, Secretary General; Deputy Secretary; Public Relations Officer; Aneke Princewill Somutochi; Program Officer; Ekwueme Ejike Johnmartins; Treasurer; Deputy Chairman; Opu Obinna Johnbosco; Vice Chairman Enugu West; Anita Chinenye; Vice Chairman Enugu North; Ezeh Kenneth Nnamdi.
The others are: Asadu Ogechukwu, the financial secretary; Okoye Chidera Osy Peters, the internal auditor; Oneh Bonita Ngozi, the legal adviser; Ayogu Nnamdi Chukwuebuka, the assistant secretary east; Ogbu Jonathan Chukwuebuka, the assistant public relations officer; Utazi Blessing, the assistant program officer; and Onah Ezinne Cynthia, the social secretary.
Ogechukwu Nnamene, the chairman of the electoral committee, Supol Igwe Kyrian, a police representative, Mrs. Ezekwe Chidinma, a representative of the State Ministry of Youths and Development, and Mrs. Ezeh Chineyre, a representative of the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development were among the prominent individuals who witnessed the important event.
