When José Mourinho was fired as head coach of Chelsea during his first season there, John Mikel Obi, a former midfield player for the squad, disclosed that he and his colleagues sobbed.
The coach’s exit, according to him, caused intense emotion on the training field. That day, though, they managed to move past it and train.
“Reaching farewell is difficult. The moment [Jose] Mourinho was fired was, of course, the most memorable for me.
“Many people were sobbing and in tears. Mikel stated in the most recent episode of his podcast, The Obi One, “It was very emotional because he had just won the Premier League twice, a young man and he is a special one.”
After he goes, we are all on the training ground laughing and joking around for five minutes, he said, saying, “It was crazy because we all cried, emotional and everything.”
“We just moved on from it, but we started talking about it after training. We feel pressure to finish the job as soon as we enter the pitch once more.
We begin training, concentrate on the upcoming match, the incoming manager, and how to resume our winning ways because Mourinho was fired because we were losing games.
