Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe State, gave the family of Mohammed Ali, who was killed in August of last year in Damaturu after a mine-resistant Nigerian Army truck unintentionally crushed him, a house valued at seven million Naira.
Through the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Shehu Hashimi II, Ibn Umar Al-Amin El-Kanemi, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Ustaz Baba Gana Kyari, expressed sympathy to the family and prayed for the deceased’s soul to rest. Governor Buni also presented the children with the house documents and the cash support.
Kyari encouraged the widow to be optimistic, explaining that the money and other assistance was not intended as compensation for their loss of their primary provider but rather as a consolation to ease their suffering, which had been made worse by Nigeria’s elimination of its petroleum subsidy.
Additionally, Governor Buni promised to pay for the late Isa’s wife’s pregnancy and the schooling of his children.
Every living thing is meant to die, the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Dr. Shehu Hashimi II Ibn Umar Al-Amin El-Kanemi, stated in his speech following the presentation of the contribution to the kids.
The Royal Father prayed for the deceased person’s soul to rest and thanked Governor Mai Mala Buni for her kindness.
Among those present at the brief presenting ceremony were Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdul-Salam (Rtd), the Special Advisor to the Governor on Security Matters, and Lt. Col. G. Abdul, the Commanding Officer of 233 Battalion. The ceremony was held at the Palace of the Emir of Damaturu.
The deceased left behind a stepmother, four children, and a pregnant wife.
Social media users expressed their condolences for the victim’s family and demanded that a thorough inquiry be conducted in response to the tragic event.
Residents blamed the soldiers for driving carelessly and breaking traffic laws for the catastrophe.
