Given the status of the employment market, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has advised youth corps members to finish their post-camp training in Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED).
During the official concluding ceremony of the orientation course for the 2023 Batch ‘C’ stream I in Girei Local Government Area on Tuesday, he made the news.
Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, the governor’s deputy, said that this would allow them to generate employment rather than merely search for them.
He said, “I am very pleased to hear about the new partnership between the NYSC, NNPC, and Bank of Industry to provide financial literacy training to youth corps members.
“I’m also pleased that those who successfully complete the necessary steps will get a N10 million award, which will enable them to launch their own companies.
“This is a fantastic chance for you to reach your financial freedom and independence.”
Fintiri also gave the NYSC members advice on how to contribute positively to the development of their host communities while respecting traditions and cultures.
He advised individuals assigned to elementary and secondary schools to embrace their assignment in good faith and to see it as an honorable and beautiful opportunity to help the younger ones.
Fintiri advised employers not to refuse youth corps members who were allocated to their establishments.
In his address, Mr. Jingi Denis, the NYSC Coordinator for Adamawa, thanked Fintiri “for his love and passion for the NYSC scheme.”
He urged the new corps members to uphold the values of patriotism, perseverance, and work ethic that they had acquired throughout the Orientation Course.
“In this context, I would like to remind you of the oath of allegiance you took, wherein you promised to accept your postings in good faith,” the speaker said.
“I command you to carry out your responsibilities with diligence, adhering to workplace policies and procedures as well as the provisions of the NYSC Act and Bye-Laws.”
