Nigeria has advanced in the area of child protection, according to the Federal Government and UNICEF, as a result of the domestication and implementation of the Child Rights Act (CRA).
This declaration was given by Mrs. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, the Minister of Women Affairs, during an interactive session and symposium with students from various schools.
The Government Science Technical School in Area 3, Abuja hosted the celebration in honor of the Universal Day of the Child.
Kennedy-Ohanenye said that the government has continued to uphold children’s rights across the country by ensuring their protection from abuse and violence, as well as their access to basic necessities and education.
She underlined that Nigeria must continue to protect and make sure that children are protected.
“Today is a good day to teach kids that President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda has created a new Nigeria.” This implies that there will be no more tampering with your rights,” she stated.
Children’s rights to good healthcare, education, development, protection, and protection from emotional abuse are just a few of the rights that UNICEF’s Director of Programs in Nigeria, Chikodi Onyemerela, stated, must never be compromised.
It is crucial for Nigeria to uphold every child’s right in order to raise future leaders of the nation and mature into responsible people.
The official said, “Our main message to Nigeria is that we need to acknowledge the role that children play in the governance of this nation’s resources.”
