General Chris Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), has accused the court of being to fault for the tardiness in prosecuting members of Boko Haram and other non-state actors.
In a Tuesday appearance before the House of Representatives, the CDS said that releasing Boko Haram members on bond is endangering the lives of security officers.
The CDS told legislators that the war against terrorism is being impacted by the release of Boko Haram operatives.
“An further facet of the legal system is that, despite your best efforts to make an arrest and turn the person over, the individual has already been freed on bond before you get into your car.
“You have put yourself in danger by doing that, because when he is freed, he goes to tell the people who arrested him.” You and your family members are now in danger. The security forces are reaching a point where they are unwilling to exert any effort, according to the CDS.
According to him, the courts have frequently even freed ships carrying stolen oil.
The Service Chiefs and the Inspector General of Police are reportedly now meeting with the legislators.
