Finally appearing before the House of Representatives on Tuesday, the Service Chiefs gave a briefing to the MPs about the security industry.
You may remember that last week, after officials from the military chiefs and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun appeared before the legislators, they were left furious.
The lawmakers ruled that “no representative by proxie would be allowed” and prevented the security heads’ delegates from giving speeches during the meeting.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas reaffirmed that the House will not accept proxies at the start of Tuesday’s session.
He announced that the military chiefs will brief the House and respond to questions from the legislators.
The Chief of Defense Staff, Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja; Chief of Naval Staff, Emmanuel Ogalla; Chief of Air Staff, Hassan Abubakar; and the Inspector General of Police were then permitted to enter the chamber by the House.
It is the security chiefs’ turn to report to the House on their operations.
