After one Waheed Balogun attacked a Lagos State Fire Service officer who was on duty in the Ikotun neighborhood of the state, the agency announced that it had started legal proceedings against him.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service’s deputy director of public affairs, Ololade Agboola, revealed this in a statement that was provided on Tuesday.
In the Oshodi region of the state, Agboola said, the suspect was arraigned before Magistrate A.A. Adesanya of a Special Offenses (Mobile) Court.
Agboola declared, “On Monday, October 1, 2023, at 167 Egbe Road, Cele Egbe, Ikotun, Lagos, a firefighter was allegedly attacked. As a result, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has legally filed a lawsuit against one Waheed Balogun, age 40.
“Balogun claims the firefighters’ fire truck interfered with his tricycle/motorcycle park operations.” At the Lagos State Special Offenses (Mobile) Court, Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos, he is currently being charged after being captured by the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offenses Task Force last Thursday.
She went on to say that following the defendant’s arraignment, Magistrate Adesanya granted bail in the amount of N200,000, accompanied by two sureties in the same amount. A second hearing in this case was postponed until December 19.
“Balogun bail has been granted under specific conditions by presiding Magistrate A. A. Adesanya. The offender must provide two sureties and pay a bail sum of 200,000 Naira, with some of the sureties needing to meet the following criteria: Lagos residency, public servants or clergymen, two years’ worth of tax payment receipts, LASSRA card, and National Identification Number (NIN).” All parties concerned will have additional time to complete their cases since the court has postponed the hearing to December 19, 2023, according to Agboola.
In a statement published on its X page on Sunday, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service reiterated its determination to prosecute the accused.
Because we think that health is wealth in every society, we celebrate World Toilet Day every year. Basic human rights demands include sanitation, proper hygiene, and access to clean water and toilets.
