Actor Adewale Mayowa, better known by his stage name Mayorkun, is a Nigerian singer who has disclosed that he kept his mother’s identity a secret for many years because he didn’t like that she was well-known.
Because he was Toyin Adewale’s son, the “Che Che” crooner declared that he never wanted anyone to treat him differently.
He revealed this when chatting on the most recent episode of the actor Taymesan’s podcast, Tea With Tay.
In his own words: “My brother and I didn’t like our mom’s popularity as an actress growing up because we wanted freedom, but with her fame came fake attention and all that.”
“I detested receiving different treatment—not because you disliked me, but more because I am the son of Toyin Adewale.
For four years, nobody at my university, even, knew that she was my mother. This was deliberate on my part.
“A girl noticed my mother when she delivered lunch to me at school one day. Just to be sure no one else saw her, I hurried to receive what she brought.
“My mother’s identity was only known to my close friends who frequently dropped by my residence. Thus, I didn’t grow up to be that youngster, the actor’s son,” he continued.
