According to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s recently established Hajj Pilgrimage Rules, which let all 2024 intending pilgrim countries to make their payments online, Kano State appears to be falling behind in getting ready for the official payment gateways’ 40-day shutdown.
Less than 300 intended pilgrims from the state have paid, which worries Alhaji Abba Danbatta, the former executive secretary of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Speaking to reporters in Kano on Monday, Danbatta urged the state pilgrims boards and the National Hajj Commission to start a widespread awareness campaign about the best times and methods for paying Hajj fees.
There are just forty days left before the Hajj fee payment deadline, and not many people in Kano have paid. I believe that having enough knowledge would be really helpful in making sure that the goals were being met,” he remarked.
