The State Chief Justice’s office has been picketed by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) branch in Osun State.
According to reports, the Osun JUSUN took this move in support of some of its members who they said had been persecuted in different ways by the Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, who is currently under fire.
Speaking to reporters on Monday at the Osun State High Court, which houses the Chief Judge’s office, Osun JUSUN Chairman Oluwagbemiga Olakunle Eludire stated that their agitations were completely independent of the state government’s activities.
“We demanded from Justice Ojo why our wardrobe allowance from 2021 till date has not been released despite funding by the state government,” Eludire explained as the reason behind their move.
“We are curious as to why the Osun government’s promotion and advancement directive was not applied for the intended purpose.
“We seek to understand why prominent JUSUN members were wrongfully suspended without due process in violation of public service regulations.
“Until appropriate action is taken on the matter, we will not back down.”
