According to Garba Muhammad Datti, the vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North West, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, the former governor of Zamfara, will shortly return his position.
The State Minister for Defense at the moment is Matawalle.
According to Datti, the ruling of the appeals court, which removed Governor Dauda Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), inspires confidence and optimism for a favorable decision from the Supreme Court.
According to reports, the Court of Appeal declared a rerun in three State local government districts on Friday, invalidating Lawal’s victory in the election held on March 18.
APC Zonal Publicity Secretary (North West), Malam Musa Mailafiya Mada, released a statement in which Datti congratulated Matawalle on his decisive win and described it as an important step in regaining his mandate.
He stated that the governing party’s challenge against the PDP’s success at the tribunal is vindicated by the victory.
Datti went on to say that the appeal court’s stance—that the tribunal mishandled the evidence and that the appellants had produced reliable evidence—speaks volumes about their belief that the court represents the final resort for the average person.
