The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has been urged by the National Union of Air Transport Employees, or NUATE, to launch a swift forensic investigation into the derailed Nigeria Air project.
The request was made on Thursday by NUATE President Ben Nnabue during his speech at the 11th Quadrennial National Delegates’ Conference in Benin, Edo State.
He stated that the National Carrier should be redesigned and restructured to better serve the interests of the nation rather than the abandoned Nigerian Air project being ignored.
He stated that the expansion of Nigeria’s aviation industry depends on the Nigeria Air project’s success.
I respectfully request that the Minister of Aviation recast the general guidelines and carry out a forensic audit on the national carrier project.
It is crucial to emphasise how significant the national carrier initiative is to the expansion of aviation in Nigeria. Therefore, the delivery shouldn’t be compromised. We insist that the project be redesigned to meet the demands of the country and the industry and to the advantage of all stakeholders.
The Nigeria Air project was put on hold by Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo due to growing controversy, as reported by the Daily Post.
The event occurred while former President Muhammadu Buhari’s term was coming to an end and Nigeria Air was hastily revealed.
