In the state’s three senatorial districts, the Kogi State Government has disregarded its vigorous 17,166-tree planting campaign and promotion of climate-smart agriculture.
The State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) program made the tree planting effort possible.
Disclosure made at the flag-off event in Kabba, Kabba Bunu Local Government Area, Kogi State, by ACReSAL Project Coordinator Ladi Ahmed Jatto.
Jatti stated that the initiative intends to restore 600 hectares of land and will provide 150 farmers in Kabba with enhanced maize seeds for dry season farmers.
She emphasized the value of landscape management to agriculture and mentioned that the state’s ACRESAL project is beginning to pay off under Governor Yahaya Bello’s leadership.
The State Government revealed that it has given 303 clean cooking stoves to women in the Western Senatorial District of the State in an effort to lessen the excessive reliance on firewood and prevent additional carbon dioxide emissions into the sky. Of these, 100 women reside in Kabba Bunu.
Similarly, the administration she revealed has installed 21 solar-powered boreholes and street lights in some communities, seven in the Western Senatorial District, with 50 solar-powered street lights throughout the Senatorial District, with the goal of lessening the sufferings of women who depend on boreholes powered by fossil generators to find clean water.
Trees hold the soil together and serve to absorb harmful gasses, which they then release into the atmosphere. Jatto bemoaned the detrimental effects of cutting down trees.

Due to the fact that trees promote healing, Kabba Bunu LGA residents need to start active tree planting.
Are we satisfied with harsh weather, deterioration, shifting weather patterns, erosion engulfing homes and biodiversity, and so on?
The project coordinator explained how human activity contributes to climate change and global warming, mentioning that cutting trees releases toxic gasses into the sky.
