The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, have received congratulations from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Court of Appeal’s decision upholding their victory in the governorship election held on March 18.
In a statement on Thursday, Cornelius Ojelabi, the chairman of the APC in Lagos State, also praised the judiciary for the decision.
On Wednesday, the PDP candidate Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran and the Labour Party candidate Mr. Gbadebo Rhode-Viviour brought up objections with the electoral tribunal’s ruling, but the Court of Appeal in Lagos rejected their arguments.
The appeal against Sanwo-Olu’s success filed by Adediran and Rhode-Vivour was earlier denied by the tribunal on September 25.
Ojelabi stated that Lagos citizens’ faith in Sanwo-Olu and his administration was validated by the appellate court’s decision.
The APC chairman declared that everyone in the party, including leaders and members, was thrilled with the appellate court’s ruling.
He claims that the affirmation shows how the nation’s legal system has developed and that it is a reliable and trustworthy institution.
“Every issue was thoroughly investigated, leaving no detail overlooked, demonstrating the depth and thoroughness of the legal procedure.
He stated, “Therefore, we applaud them for their due diligence.”
