Primate Elijah Ayodele, the head of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, cautioned Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki on Tuesday not to impose anybody as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for governor in the 2024 election.
According to Primate Ayodele, forcing any candidate will result in failure and ruin Obaseki’s political career.
The prophet issued a warning in a statement endorsed by Osho Oluwatosin, his media assistant, saying that the PDP would vanish from the state and the candidate would valiantly lose if Obsaseki attempts to use his self-serving interest in place of letting democracy rule in the choice of the party’s governorship candidate.
Obaseki’s candidate will prevail if he settles down and lets democracy rule; on the other hand, if he chooses a PDP candidate against democratic principles, they will lose and he would lose his political career.
Rather of pushing someone on the populace, Omaeki need to let the most qualified candidate receive the party ticket. Votes would be sold to the APC in the election if he attempts to compel someone to run as the PDP candidate.
“The PDP in Edo State will disappear if he acts in this self-serving manner.” Obaseki would fail if he bases his selection of a candidate on his knowledge or influence, he added.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) would do all in its power to win the 2024 Edo election, according to Primate Ayodele, who called it a major battleground.
The Edo election will be a fierce contest because the APC is determined to win and is fighting for it with all of its might, but anybody who hopes to prevail must be prepared both spiritually and physically.
Additionally, he needs a powerful spiritual chant, such as “Emi Lokan.” He ought to be morally upright and seek God’s face. The Edo election cannot be won by an immigrant. He has to know the grassroots extremely well,” he remarked.
The prophet also warned Obaseki not to let money and selfishness get the better of him, saying that if he loses the election, his career will end.
In politics, they will destroy Obaseki if he loses. He must resist letting avarice and self-interest rule his decision while selecting the party’s nominee; otherwise, if APC selects a strong candidate, PDP would be deposed. PDP would be devastated if Obaseki chooses someone whom God has not appointed,” he said.
