In an effort to make parliamentary staff transportation easier, the National Assembly on Monday launched eight new coaster buses that were donated by Clerk to the National Assembly, Magaji Tambawal.
The buses, the first in history to be supplied by a CNA, are a part of temporary steps taken to lessen the impact on the employees of the removal of fuel subsidies.
As part of efforts to lessen the effects of the removal of fuel subsidies, the CNA has also ensured the implementation of a new N35,000 wage award for National Assembly staff.

Speaking at the launch and vehicle pass on to the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), Senate Deputy President Barau Jibrin said the action was an indication of the 10th National Assembly’s commitment to staff welfare, which is being led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
He claimed that because of his dedication to the welfare of parliamentary staff, he did not hesitate to approve the welfare bus provision when it was brought to the Senate President’s attention.
In a related development, the Clerk to the National Assembly, Mr. Sani Magaji Tambuwal, has been praised by the Patriotic Youth Forum (PYF) for his progressive, worker-friendly, and focused leadership.
