The gunmen who want to assume military uniforms in order to incite violence during this Saturday’s off-cycle gubernatorial elections in the states of Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa have received a strong warning from the Defense Headquarters.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, issued a warning, stating that their actions will have negative effects.
Buba issued a warning, saying that the military in Nigeria will not stand by and let its reputation to be damaged on Saturday.
While addressing reporters on military efforts to combat threats from terrorists, bandits/kidnappers, perpetrators of oil theft, and other types of instability around the nation, he gave the warning.
This is a message for the off-season elections that are taking place this weekend in the states of Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi. In order to provide a secure atmosphere in which voters may calmly cast their ballots, the military is being heavily utilized during the election.
Nonetheless, we are aware of intentions by some to pose as military personnel in order to cause mayhem and interfere with elections in some regions.
We want to make it clear to this group that their actions will have negative effects. The military won’t give up and allow its reputation to be destroyed, he declared.
