A crackdown on vandals of electrical transformers and other power distribution infrastructure in the state has been ordered by Dr. Michael Adaralewa, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at Oyo State Command.
This was revealed by the command’s spokesperson, DSC Samuel Opebiyi, in a statement sent to reporters in Ibadan on Wednesday.
Opebiyi claims that at the command’s monthly briefing at its headquarters in Ibadan, the commandant gave the directive while speaking to the Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Heads of Units, and Heads of Departments.
Concerning the increasing number of vandalism incidents in various regions of Oyo State that target power transformers and other energy distribution assets, Adaralewa voiced worry.
“All Area Commanders and Divisional Officers in Oyo State have been given the command to pursue vandals who have damaged transformers and other electricity distribution infrastructure.
“In order to prevent the expected increase in criminal actions, I also request greater security presence at religious centers on Fridays, Sundays, and during the holiday season,” Adaralewa declared.
The commandant gave the officers praise for their hard work and urged them to keep up their moral standards when doing their jobs.
As the year was rapidly drawing to a conclusion, Adaralewa exhorted all of the corps’ leaders and soldiers to prepare for the massive challenge ahead.
He gave the Oyo State residents confidence in the NSCDC’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding persons and property both during and after the holiday season.
The examination of reports from several command-level departments, units, and divisions was one of the meeting’s other main features.
There was discussion and agreement on strategies and instructions intended to increase the corps’ efficacy and service delivery to the people of Oyo State.
