Chukwuka Utazi, the former senator for the Enugu-North Senatorial District in Enugu State, claims that the reasons behind his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party are that the “ideals that attracted him to the party have receded into oblivion.”
The state’s Nkpologu Ward PDP Chairman, Chief Robert Ezeagu, received the senator’s letter of resignation on Sunday. The senator served as the district’s representative from 2015 to 2023.
The letter is as follows: “I have the honor of resigning from my membership in the People’s Democratic Party, of which I was a founding member when it was founded in 1998.
The reason for this is because the party’s original ideals have since faded into obscurity, leaving me little choice but to leave and join another that will provide me more opportunities to contribute to the growth of the country and operate to the fullest extent possible.
As a result, I’m wishing you all the best of luck as you keep working hard to make ends meet as best you can given the current situation. I appreciate your cooperation and understanding thus far.
But the former senator remained mum about his future political move.
