Paul Merson, a former midfielder for Arsenal, stated that for the Gunners to be remembered, they must win the Premier League.
Last season, Mikel Arteta’s team nearly won the championship after dominating the standings for more than 240 days.
But Manchester City overcame Arsenal due to injuries and a decline in performance, going on to win a historic Treble.
Now, Merson is urging his old squad to advance farther in this campaign.
“It’s okay to have a good young team that is constantly impressing, but you’ve got to win something,” he said to Sky Sports. This team won’t be remembered if they don’t. Nobody discusses clubs that finish last in their leagues. It’s harsh, but that’s the way things work.
“I do feel bad for the Gunners because Man City is such a formidable opponent for them.”
