The Tiv community in Nasarawa State has condemned Comrade Peter Ahemba, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public Affairs, for his “unguarded utterances and false narratives” on the recent governorship election petition tribunal’s decision.
The community accused Ahemba of using his kin’s misery to achieve his own ambitions.
Speaking to the media in Lafia on Thursday, Boniface Iffer, a Tiv community leader, called on Ahemba to stop making “divisive statements” and to apologize for attributing a religious angle to the tribunal’s ruling, stating the Tiv community’s strong opposition to involving religious institutions in politics.
Iffer called Ahemba’s recent statements on Africa Independent Television (AIT) during a live broadcast profane and an unconscious attempt to draw the community into the pool of filthy politics.
“Normally, we would have preferred to remain silent, but for the avoidance of doubt, Ahemba should not be seen as a representative of the Tiv people by dragging noble personalities into unnecessary disparaging for a pot of porridge in order to earn a short-term livelihood.”
“This is what the Nasarawa regime has done to Peter, who is surviving on the blood of his Tiv brothers in Nasarawa.” His case is similar to Cain and Abel’s blood, or Esau exchanging his inheritance, and he is someone who will go to any length to sell his birthright for a pot of porridge.
“He has lost his head as the official liar of the Nasarawa State government.” He is battling and, for that matter, knowingly selling lie in order to impress his paymasters. Whose property will you stand on if you sell your farm to purchase a trumpet? He campaigned for the post he now has by killing Tiv people in Obi, Awe, Doma, and a number of other areas in Nasarawa State.
“Unlike others before him, the sacked TIDA President must not bring us into disrepute simply to keep his appointment with the state government.”
“He should hasten to apologise to the well-meaning leaders of thought in the state and the Tiv Community for such display of uncultured, unguided and excessive bunch of lies and other utterances on AIT and other media platforms in recent times to avoid being totally rejected by his kinsmen as the official liar of Nasarawa State Government,” he said.
